WALLS & HUMIDITY

Paint peeling at the bottom of the walls due to humidity

The eternal problem that undermines the beauty and value of the place, no matter how cheap or expensive it is, is when we calculate it from the beginning. The establishments live a very long life without maintenance or expenses and maintain the  value, price and beauty of the place.

Important tips:-

– It is never appropriate to repaint or re-plastering over the old plaster or old paint without verifying the source of moisture and treating it first.

– Do not pierce the shafts or necks because the reaction of oxygen with the iron causes rust, and thus the corrosion of the concrete comes as a result of the rusting of the iron, which causes a new crisis in the columns and the problem is repeated again.

The causes of humidity are listed for you as follows:-

1) Do not immerse building bricks in water before construction for good impregnation.

2) Do not spray buildings for a period of not less than 3 days for good impregnation.

3) Not insulating underground areas such as column necks, middens, and ground beams, as moisture passes through them to the walls.

4) Moisture retention as a result of spraying plaster water and tile water in the landfill and not leaving enough time for drying.

5) Use fine sand for reclamation, preferably coarse sand.

6) Do not make a shell to the full height of the wall. It is better to leave 10-15 cm below the walls to prevent moisture from being trapped under the ceramic sand.

7) Not giving the plaster enough time to dry after spraying.

8) Not installing cabinets, which causes water to enter the wall while washing the floors.

Solve the moisture problem during the construction phase:-

To solve the problem, you must first search for the source of the water, including treating the humidity and doing positive insulation, not negative. Usually the moisture is present at the bottom, so the issue of peeling will continue, and there are no paint materials that resist this moisture. The solution to this problem is to deliver air to it to dry.

The detection method is as follows:-

First: You must ensure that there are no leaks from water pipes

Second: When inspecting, make a hole 15 cm deep at the bottom of the walls, preferably in the entire thickness of the wall, 20 cm high from the ground, and the distance between the holes every 20 cm to 30 cm around the walls for the presence of moisture in order to vent and dry, and leave the situation for a period of not less than 48 hours with a test done on it (just to be sure). By creating a water barrier under the hole and spraying water over the hole, you will find that the moisture has dried around the hole area after at least two days, meaning that the moisture has found an outlet and dried out.

Solve the moisture problem after the construction stage (after use or after a period of finishing):-

Communicate with one of the engineers or companies specialized in the field of moisture insulation. Do not contact Uncertified contractor, or a conch buyer who tells you to break the conch for you and we will make it again with chemicals (no one understands and solves the problem correctly). I say (I say an engineer, a specialist, certified  and a smart one).

Why do we say that the most important thing is to communicate with a specialized engineer, because the solutions are many and the materials used are much more.
